Philodendron 'Mamei' is a classic choice in plant enthusiasts' collections, being a species first documented in Rev. Hort. (Paris) 55: 104, in 1883.

It is a subshrub that creeps along the ground, but cases have been observed in its natural environment where it changed its growth pattern, developing vertically. In recent years, it has been reclassified from a terrestrial species to an epiphytic one. This makes it a highly versatile plant that can develop coherently both in a rectangular pot and on a moss pole, allowing it to expand horizontally.

Spectacular due to its heart-shaped foliage (of course), dark green with silver variegation spots, Philodendron 'Mamei' is an incredibly undemanding plant. It's a perfect choice for newcomers who want to embark on a charming journey with plants that are more unique than the classic Philodendron, Epipremnum, or Monstera species.

It's an ideal option for indoor spaces not only from an aesthetic perspective but also from a functional one, as the plant has the ability to purify the air by filtering formaldehydes.

Like all Philodendron species, Philodendron 'Mamei' loves full indirect light (east-facing windows are the best options) and should be watered when the top two centimeters of the substrate have dried.

Attention! To check the level of substrate humidity, inserting your finger into the pot to a depth of 2 centimeters is the best way to measure soil moisture. So, if you feel the substrate is moist, keep the watering can away for a day or two, and if it feels dry, water it.

Attention 2! When it comes to watering, consider the pot in which the plant is potted, as well as the amount of substrate and its level of aeration. In other words, don't pour a liter of water into a pot with a diameter and height of 12 cm, as you will drown the plant's roots. It's best to discard the excess water from the collecting pot half an hour after watering. The plant should be mounted on a support pole dressed in coconut fiber or moss, in which case the aerial roots will attach to this support, resulting in a more vigorous stem and increasingly larger leaves.
