Muehlenbeckia Complexa
Plant species: Muehlenbeckia complexa
Plant genus: Muehlenbeckia
Plant family: Polygonaceae
Plant origin: New Zealand
Soil drainage: We recommend a mix of organic substrate and perlite. It prefers a denser substrate with good drainage properties.
Soil pH: Acidic
Fertilizers: The plant needs to be fertilized biweekly during the active growth period. We recommend diluting the fertilizer, especially if using a chemical one. For organic fertilizers, we recommend dilution with every watering.
Humidity: It acclimates perfectly to indoor environments with a humidity level of at least 45% during the summer. However, it is important that the substrate does not dry out between waterings.
Temperature: 18-30 degrees Celsius
Light: Plenty of indirect light, but it can also tolerate a few hours of direct light.
Plant height (including pot): 10-15 cm
Pot diameter: 6 cm
Muehlenbeckia complexa is one of 50 endemic shrub species from New Zealand. It is a special plant because, as it grows, it forms a weave of woody branches to protect the main stem.
Note! To check the moisture level of the substrate, inserting a finger 2 cm into the pot is the best way to measure soil moisture. If the substrate feels wet, keep the watering can away for one or two days; if it feels dry, water it.
Note 2! When watering, consider the size of the pot, the amount of substrate, and its aeration level. For example, do not pour a liter of water into a pot with a diameter and height of 12 cm, as this would drown the plant’s roots. It's best to discard excess water from the collector tray half an hour after watering.
